The SVA Construction Corp Interior Design Process
Interior design planning begins in our first meetings. Clear expectations and our defined steps allow everyone to be involved. This ensures that there aren’t surprises or thoughts of wishing things had been done differently. A project stays on budget when changes are made on paper and not when construction begins. That’s why our team of professionals will take the time upfront to explain exactly what will happen when and make sure all of your questions are answered. No two interior projects are alike, so at SVA Construction Corp|Design Remodel Build our process starts with the initial consultation and lasts through completion of construction.

Announcing “SVA Construction Corp Immersion” – 3D Virtual Reality Has Arrived at SVA Construction Corp Design Build Mon, 12 Mar 2018 19:31:27 +0000
With Facebook’s Oculus Rift 3D virtual reality technology, you feel as if you are literally standing in your brand new space before it’s even built
You truly have to see it to believe it! I wasn’t sure what to expect as I experienced it for the first time but I was blown away. Using Facebook’s Oculus Rift 3D virtual reality technology, SVA Construction Corp Design Build has taken the design and remodeling experience to a whole new level. If you are like me and have a hard time visualizing space where space doesn’t exist by simply looking at a design on a piece of paper, then you have to give this technology a try.

The team at SVA Construction Corp has spent countless hours blending design and technology to allow homeowners to see exactly what their remodel will look like, both inside and out, from the perspective of standing “virtually” in the middle of their newly added and/or renovated space. As the name of the program states, you truly “immerse” yourself in your newly designed space—whether it’s a large-scale kitchen remodel, whole house renovation, in-law suite or other new space. You literally feel like you are standing in a real house. So you can see exactly what your home will look like before construction ever begins. I was amazed at how you can even walk from one room to the next, and from one floor to the next and see exactly how one space flows to the next and how furniture will look and fit. There is even an audio component so not only can you see the space from the perspective of actually being in it, but you can hear typical sounds as well. I, for example, heard the sounds of birds chirping outside as I stood looking out the kitchen window, of course, virtually.

This is cutting edge technology that relatively few remodelers are using. But don’t take my word for it. Give SVA Construction Corp a call for a free demo and give it a try yourself. SVA Construction Corp is truly taking the “unknown” away and revolutionizing remodeling design!

Tips for Creating an In-Law Suite Wed, 17 Jan 2018 14:43:06 +0000 It’s always a good idea to start thinking about the future of your parents and in-laws, and even your own, now, rather than when you really need to. In-law suites can be ideal for relatives who want to keep their privacy and maintain some independence while also feeling included in the rest of the household. When creating an in-law suite, there are certain things to keep in mind.

Think about location

There are often many options for where to build your in-law suite depending on your home and lot. You can transform your garage or porch area into an enclosed space. You can design an addition onto your home.  You can combine existing rooms in your home such as a living room and dining room.

Think about functionality

Keep in mind who will be using your new space and anticipate the needs they will have now and in the future.  Will they need wider doors and hallways? Could they use assisted baths with lever handles and stylish guardrails? How about no-slip flooring and no-curb showers? The possibilities are virtually endless.

Think about decor

If your relatives aren’t planning to move in permanently or they won’t move in for a while, it’s important to keep everyone in mind with the decor of your addition. Keeping things neutral, from flooring, to curtains, to wall color, will allow personal touches to be added by those that use the space.

An Elegant Yet Relaxing Lower Level Retreat Wed, 06 Dec 2017 18:54:45 +0000 Relaxing lower level retreat living room

Could you use more space in your home? You may not need to look any further than your lower level. This Gaithersburg, MD home is a perfect example of how to dramatically increase a home’s living space without touching the existing footprint.

The homeowners, empty nesters with children and grandchildren that visit often, wanted to obtain more usable living space and did just that by creating an elegant yet relaxing basement that boasts an expansive living area with comfortable and beautiful furniture that is great for everyday living as well as for entertaining guests. The gorgeous vinyl plank flooring complements the overall feel of the room while providing warmth. Columns and beams were strategically integrated into the design to provide both function and visual interest. A calming Benjamin Moore Tundra paint was selected for the walls. Recessed lighting was meticulously placed throughout the space. A gorgeous and intricate wine rack finishes the look and serves as the perfect focal point for the room.

The full bathroom in the basement features: Encore White Matte Crystal Cabinets, Steel Grey Granite Countertops and Aristocrat Grey Natural Finish Field Tile and Glazed Mosaics White Matte Ceramic Tile, blending perfectly with the designer feel of the rest of the basement.

The homeowners could not be more thrilled with how this space has changed their home and look forward to enjoying it for many years to come!

Creating Space for an In-Law Suite Wed, 06 Dec 2017 18:54:00 +0000 In-Law SuiteWhile in-law suites can be customized to meet your needs, a typical space consists of a private living area within a home with a full bathroom, full or partial kitchen and a door that separates it from the rest of the house. Oftentimes in-law suites even have their own entrance. But what are some options for finding room to incorporate this space into your home?

One possibility is transforming a garage or a porch area into living space. A basement can be another great option as long as it has adequate outside egress. Combining two bedrooms to create a suite could be another opportunity. A third garage bay can be converted into a separate apartment-type living space with its own access. You can also consider replacing or eliminating an underused first-floor living space, such as a formal living room or dining room. Creating a suite in a bonus room over the garage is another popular direction. Working with an experienced designer will allow you to explore which direction would work best for you and your home.
